THE Candidate for the 14th District

Miguel Hernandez was born in New York in 1974 and grew up in a family of seven. His parents were originally from Puerto Rico. Growing up in extreme poverty helped mold him into the strong resilient man he is. At age 16, he started working with his Uncle Jose, who introduced him to the construction trade as an apprentice. He taught him how to frame, tape, and compound and do advanced electrical work. He showed him how to fix and weld copper pipes and cast iron.

At 18 he left home and decided to become the first member of his family to attend college. At 22, he started to get clients in all types of repairs, whether it was tilling, plumbing, sheet rock, or boiler work.In 2006, he graduated TCI at the top of the Dean’s List and was able to license and certify himself in order to run his own business. Since then Miguel has been actively working for the community doing construction work for many families across New York City. He tries his best to help many families regardless of income.

During Miguel free time he is an active member of Union 32BJ and very active in charitable causes where he teaches young boys the beloved sport of basketball. In 2015, Miguel Hernandez built and completed the Vinkem Pharmaceutical plant in NJ, which passed all inspection tests. Miguel started out as a superintendent for Wynn Residential and became one of their top employees. Miguel is currently the superintendent of a condo on the Upper East Side and continues to run his contractor business.

After working his way up from poverty into a successful business owner, he strongly believes that America is a land of opportunity and the greatest hope on Earth. Miguel Hernandez has deep roots in the community, and has long been dedicated to serving it.
